About me

I’m Lauren Hunter, an existential psychotherapist and gerontologist passionate about helping individuals navigate the challenges of life’s existential struggles. My approach helps people find clarity and peace through acceptance, self-discovery, and deeper insight into their relationships and personal path forward.

Originally from Mississippi, I now live in New Orleans, Louisiana. I hold a BA in psychology from the University of Mississippi, an MA in clinical mental health counseling from Loyola University, and a PhD in aging studies from Tulane University. I’m a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Louisiana, and I’ve been practicing since 2019, specializing in aging, grief, life transitions, and existential anxiety. My practice can be characterized by its warmth and being rooted in theory. I am passionate about my work and I feel deeply fulfilled by the privilege of working alongside my clients.

Alongside my counseling practice, I’m an adjunct professor at Loyola University New Orleans, where I teach the Study of Death and Dying in the MS in Counseling program.
