Teaching and trainings
Aside from counseling and psychotherapy, Lauren is is passionate about education. She loves imparting the subjects she teaches in engaging and digestible ways. Her firm understanding of pedagogy fosters learning through strong leadership, clear communication, experiential activities, and meaningful discussions. Lauren’s experience ranges from teaching to graduate students in counseling programs to residents and employees in retirement communities.

Thanatology: The study of death and dying
Students complete this course with a declarative and practical understanding of loss, death, and grief in the clinical setting and the impact of these factors across the lifespan on the individual, relational, and societal levels of being.
Counseling older adults
The objectives for this course include students (1) examining aging and old age through a psychosociocultural lens, (2) exploring the presentation of common mental health issues in older adulthood, and (3) gaining practical skills when working with older adults in the clinical setting.
Grief and Loss
Students in this adult-education course gain a declarative knowledge of grief and loss and an understanding of how these experiences are shaped by personal, relational, cultural, and lifespan factors.
The biology of aging
After the completion of the course, students understand the facets of the aging process, can identify signs of healthy and unhealthy aging, and can describe various age-related diseases.
