Individual counseling and psychotherapy
Individual counseling and psychotherapy sessions consist of 50 minutes of engaged dialogue between the therapist and the client. As the client, sessions provide the opportunity for you to process what ails you in an uncensored and free-associative way, explore the mind-body connection of your symptoms, examine your issues from various perspectives, conceptualize your problems in the context of your choices and life story, and channel creativity and responsibility to discover and enact solutions. Lauren encounters each client with warmth, earnestness, non-judgment, and sharp ears.
Lauren’s approach to individual sessions can be characterized by Thomas Hardy’s words, “If a way to the better there be, it exacts a full look at the worst.” In other words, the journey to true healing and growth requires honesty, humility, and a willingness to be vulnerable. These factors demand great emotional energy and it is typical for clients to feel like things get worse before they get better. However, only from this place of authenticity can change take root.
